President and Chief Executive Officer

Roles and Responsibilities

As the President & Chief Executive Officer, you will be primarily responsible for:

  • Understanding the roles and responsibilities of each member of the Board of Directors and support in the assigned duties as needed.

  • Presiding over all meetings of the Executive Board as well as the full Board of Directors.

  • Leading the Board of Directors in the implementation of its strategic plan and ensure the organization is carrying out its mission.

  • Frequently coordinate with the Advisory Council to ensure the organization is “on track” and to help address any issues, concerns, or questions.

  • Ensure completion, progress and effective allocation of responsibilities and tasks of the Board of Directors.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Must have previously served as a YPG Board Member

  • Demonstrated passion for Young Professionals in Government

  • Strong oral communications skills

  • Relationship-Oriented


Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

Roles and Responsibilities

As the Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, you will be primarily responsible for:

  • Overseeing routine chapter operations including meetings, professional development, etc.

  • Oversee the nominations and elections process for the organization annually as well as the recruitment to fill any vacant board positions.

  • Develp and present an annual operational plan to the Board of Directors.

  • Provide direct strategic and operational support for the relevant Directors and committees they oversee.

  • Assisting the CFO as needed in the development and presentation of the annual budget.

  • Assist in recruiting of committee chair persons.

  • Assist in the development of an annual strategic plan for the organization.

General Counsel

Roles and Responsibilities

As the General Counsel, you will be primarily responsible for:

  • Oversight of the organization’s documents – to include the Constitution, Bylaws, and Code of Ethics.

  • Understanding of state and federal tax, incorporation, and non-profit law.

  • Ensuring all organization activity meets relevant local, state, and federal legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Providing counsel to the Board as it relates to daily operation of the organization.

  • Responding on behalf of the board in the event of any legal inquiries.

  • Monitor legal and ethical conduct of the organization as well as its board and members.

  • Provide direct strategic and operational support for the Director of Professionalism and Conduct and the committee he/she oversees.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Licensed to practice law in the State of Tennessee

  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity

  • Ability to handle confidential information

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Sound judgement and ability to analyze situations and information

  • Proven knowledge of procedures, standards of conduct, laws, rules and regulations of non-profit organizations


Chief Financial Officer

Roles and Responsibilities

As the Chief Financial Officer, you will be primarily responsible for:

  • Direct oversight and management of budget and all financial assets.

  • Acting as a custodian of chapter funds.

  • Overseeing of payment to all external vendors.

  • Overseeing reimbursement to members for YPG related-expenses.

  • Developing and overseeing internal controls for financial matters.

  • Production and presentation of an annual budget; presentation of financial updates at each BOD meeting.

  • Monitoring of sources of revenue, segmentation of revenue to remain in compliance with 501(c)3 tax exempt status.

  • Coordinating and maintaining required financial documentation for tax purposes.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Previous experience in budget management and accounting.

  • Experience with administering Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Familiarity with tax management for organizations/businesses is preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to balance risk with strategic vision.

  • Can translate consumer and financial data into actionable business decisions.

  • Knowledge and competence in Excel.


Chief of Strategy and Impact

Roles and Responsibilities

As the Chief of Strategy & Impact, you will be primarily responsible for:

  • Recruiting Advisory Council members and ensuring continued, clear communications and integration between the Council and the Board of Directors.

  • Ensuring continued organizational alignment between the Organization’s Mission, Vision, and Values and daily operations.

  • Performing SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) Assessments of the organization.

  • Provide direct strategic and operational support for the relevant Directors and committees they oversee.

Director of Marketing

Roles and Responsibilities

As the Director of Marketing, you will be primarily responsible for:

  • Creating and maintaining YPG website, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook pages

  • Creating a marketing and communications plan for YPG social media channels

  • Curating and posting content regularly to:

    • Build brand awareness

    • Position YPG as an exciting, engaging networking opportunity

    • Effectively capture mood and highlights of events

  • Attending the majority of YPG events in order to develop a backlog of content for future posts

  • Engaging with existing audiences by replying to comments and answering questions

  • Employing tools within Instagram and Facebook to push out sponsored posts targeting desired demographics

Qualifications and Skills

  • Previous experience in social media management for a large organization

  • Highly responsive to all forms of communication (phone, email, social channels)

  • Ability to plan content deployment in advance

  • Familiarity with industry best practices for maximizing brand impressions

  • Experience collaborating as a part of a cross-functional team to execute large-scale events

  • Possession of personal style


Director of Development

Roles and Responsibilities

As the Director of Development, you will be primarily responsible for:

  • Arranging workshops, training, and continuing education sessions.

    • Should provide attendees knowledge and strengthen skills, to ultimately expand future employment opportunities for general body.

  • Working with Director of Partnerships & Events to identify, engage, and arrange career and professional development opportunities for members.

  • Coordinating with other professional organizations, associations, and institutions of higher education.

  • Collecting feedback from members to ensure needs and interests are met; both in annual survey and after individual events.

  • Providing leadership to committee members to ensure successful completion of all committee responsibilities.

Director of Membership and Recruitment

Roles and Responsibilities

As the Director of Membership & Recruitment, you will be primarily responsible for:

  • All membership services and arranging all recruitment opportunities for government employees as well as students;

  • Developing and presenting a membership and recruitment plan to the Executive Board each year.

  • Maintaining a repository of member details.

  • Managing and distributing an annual demographic survey.

  • Ensuring recruitment of new members is representative of state, federal, and local government from the Metropolitan Statistical Area.

  • Managing eligibility of all members.

  • Hosting quarterly online interest meetings for organizations and potential members.

  • Collaborate with Director of Marketing and Director of Partnerships and Events to develop a Marketing Plan and Events schedule to include in membership and recruitment plan.

Director of Partnerships and Events

Roles and Responsibilities

As the Director of Partnerships & Events, you will be primarily responsible for:

  • Coordinating and planning networking events for general body members.

  • Coordinating with diverse partners to host events and provide support to the organization.

  • Working closely with other Directors in order to facilitate smooth execution of logistics of events.

  • Identifying other Young Professional Organizations to host joint events.

Director of Social Impact

Roles and Responsibilities

As the Director of Social Impact, you will be primarily responsible for:

  • Overseeing philanthropic or service opportunities.

  • Coordinating with partners to host philanthropic and service opportunities

  • Executing vision for long-term service goals.

  • Maintain a log of service hours registered by members and provide an annual report to executive board.

Director of Professionalism and Conduct

Roles and Responsibilities

As the Director of Professionalism & Conduct, you will be primarily responsible for:

  • Educating members of professional conduct responsibilities and code of ethics.

  • Ensuring there are no conflicts of interest within the Executive Board, Managing Directors, Advisory Council, Standing Committees and Friends of YPG network.

  • Ensuring the conduct of YPG members is professional and ethical.

  • Ensuring Board of Directors is fulfilling required commitments; report concerns to President.

  • Promoting an environment of respect, cooperation, and congeniality.

  • Ensuring protection of confidentiality of both those alleged to have experienced unprofessionalism or violations of the code of ethics.

  • Excellent writing and analytical skills.

  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity.

  • Must develop and execute on a comprehensive  understanding of the current By-Laws, Constitution, Code of Ethics and other relevant documents
